:: Alison Dearborn (former Alison Rieder) Online Collection::
About the paintings: Alison Dearborn’s paintings are visual representations of both the passing of time and time-eternal. They explore the ancient and mythical connections between mankind and his animal world (primarily animals that are associated with great spirit and strength). Her paintings of animals include horses, buffalo, ibex, bear, moose, lion, wolf, elephant, mastodon, elk and zebra. Visit Alison's Firegazing blog for images of recent works and musings on the creative life.
The cave-like figures, originally inspired by the ancient cave drawings of France, revitalize primitive pictorial dialogue early humans once held. A dialogue that explored mankind’s place both physically and spiritually in our animal kingdom.
The early Native American flavor of her work comes from the exploration of the mystical Southwest. She has travelled extensively throughout the American Southwest, observing color and light. She is especially drawn to the tones of the Earth itself which are reflected in many of her paintings. These tones, applied with organic texturing work together to further enhance the Earth/Spirit connection much of her work explores.
Original new works and limited edition prints are available in galleries throughout the United States. Please see purchase information for pricing and details.
